Poverty-Focused and Locally-Led Approach Resource Management

CORIN-Asia (Myanmar) was established on October 9, 2010 to benefit the people living in the Union of Myanmar particularly the  inhabitants who are dependent on coastal, marine and wetlands resources.

The organization aims to develop capacity of these targetted local communities by helping them gain access to livelihood opportunities while conserving coastal resources and protecting the environment towards poverty reduction.

CORIN-Asia Myanmar will facilitate the achievement of its goals through  a strong local presence. It will develop strong linkages by working closely with local institutions, local community groups, government institutions, non-government organizations and international organizations.

There are 5 departments under Corin-Asia (Myanmar): (1) Department of Information, (2) Department of Planning, (3) Department of Marine Science, (4) Department of Public Relations, and (5) Department of Finance.

CORIN-Asia Myanmar Director, Captain Win Naing, was invited as a resource person by the National Food Institute (NFI) of Thailand, to a workshop about “Opportunities for Investment in Myanmar’s Seafood Sector” on September 19, 2013 held at Arnoma Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand. He made a presentation about prospects in the seafood industry in Myanmar.
